Dear Peter,
Welcome to our school to have a cross-cultural communication with us. I’m Li Hua, responsible for the planning of this activity. Firstly, we’ll hold a reception for you in our school hall. Then, three of my schoolmates and an English teacher are to guide you to have a good knowledge of Confucius whose ideas have deeply shaped Chinese culture. You will listen to a brief introduction to Confucius’ life in English, watch a relevant documentary and visit his statue. To have a better communication, we advise that you can speak out the points you are confused about in the process. If you have some ideas to improve the planning of the activity, please tell me as soon as possible.
Looking forward to your coming!
Yours,
Li Hua

Paragraph 1:
I nodded my head and started to do the job. At first, I pulled a grape cluster away from the vine as my grandfather did. But unexpectedly, when I cut off the stem, I broke some grapes due to much force. So when picking the next grape cluster, I gently held up the bottom of the grape cluster and carefully cut off its stem. And then I bowed my body to gently put the grapes into the bucket. Then I stood up and picked the grapes again. But after repeating the actions for a long time, my arms and waist were exhausted.
Paragraph 2:
What was worse, hours later, the morning coolness was slowly giving way to extreme heat. It started to defeat my spirit. As I harvested the grapes, dust gradually changed the color of my skin. Sweat flowed down my face. When I was thinking of giving up, I found my grandfather was looking at me. “Boy, go home. It was hot,” he said and wiped the sweat away form his old dusty face. Seeing that, I felt a little heavy-hearted and immediately I said aloud, “No, grandpa, I’m alright. I’ll continue.” Hearing it, my grandfather smiled.
